Nickel and special stainless steels producer VDM Metals Group has appointed Rolf Schencking as new Chief Technical Officer (CTO). The 49-year-old mechanical engineer has officially taken over the position at VDM Metals Group on 1 April 2018.
In recent years, Mr. Schencking has been in charge of aluminum producer Constellium’s Singen, Germany, based subsidiary, where he was responsible for around 2,200 employees as Chairman of the Management Board. Previously, the native of Dortmund, Germany, worked for the Norwegian Norsk Hydro Group for more than 13 years in various positions, including Italy and Asia and seven years as Managing Director for two dedicated production plants.
“We look forward to working with Rolf Schencking, who gathered extensive experience in the non-ferrous metals industry,” explained Dr. Niclas Müller, President and CEO of VDM Metals.
“VDM Metals is the world market leader for nickel alloys and special stainless steels. Our common mission is to consolidate this position and expand it in the coming years," said Mr. Schencking.
In his new role, Mr. Schencking will be responsible for production, quality management and research and development at VDM Metals.
